Our Research

  • Romantic Relationships

Our research largely focuses on romantic relationships. In particular, we study how couples navigate changes in their relationships and when these changes result in beneficial versus harmful outcomes.

  • Incarceration

More recently, we have studied how justice-impacted couples capitalize on their strengths and deal with their struggles during a partner’s incarceration. We consider both interpersonal and system-level interventions to support justice-impacted couples.

  • Self-Concept

The self-concept, a person’s mental representation of who they are, has profound implications for well-being outcomes. We are interested in how features of a person’s self-concept influences outcomes both individually and interpersonally.
